About
Sonder Chiropractic
Sonder - n. the realization that each random passerby is living a life as vivid and complex as your own.
The main purpose of Chiropractic is to optimize the nervous system. Your nervous system allows you to interact with the world. It is the conduit that supports communication within your body to manage internal processes, such as breathing, digesting, and healing. It is also integral to you being able to interact with what's happening outside your body. For example, your nervous system is responsible for reflexes, such as moving your hand away from a hot surface in an instant. Your nervous system is also imperative for using your body to do want you what, such as going for a run, learning to play a musical instrument, holding your loved ones, etc. Optimizing the nervous system often results in less pain, more energy, a stronger immune system, better athletic performance, and making it easier to do the things you want in your life.
We all have dreams and goals. We're all dealing with a unique set of circumstances and obstacles. And we're all doing the best we can to navigate the various paths of life, whether they seem straight and logical or twisting and random. Sonder Chiropractic was born out of the desire to truly acknowledge and honor each person's journey, offering a healing modality that supports your body's ability to heal itself, and your ability to walk the path of your fullest potential.
Let's inspire the reawakening of your truth, possibility, and freedom.

Dr. Monica
The call to become a chiropractor came later in life for me. In fact I had never been to a chiropractor until I was in my early forties. I had a successful and lucrative career as a web developer/designer for over 15 years that provided well for my family. It wasn't that I hated my job, but rather that I kept feeling like I couldn't imagine doing it for the rest of my life - that it wasn't my purpose. Feeling stuck between providing a comfortable lifestyle for my family and figuring out what my purpose was, I became interested in improving my health and wellbeing physically and spiritually. I developed a strong vinyasa yoga practice, a dedicated meditation practice, got certified as a yoga teacher, and increasingly became interested in alternative health practices. Eventually life threw me a few curve balls that, not so gently, inspired the realization that I had to make a decision to continue living a life incongruent with my heart or take a big leap and discover a path that aligned with my heart's purpose.
Once I decided to leap, the universe led the way. Within a few days, I experienced a minor rib injury during my yoga practice that caused searing pain when I took a deep breath. Upon recommendation from my yoga instructor, I visited a chiropractor for the first time who not only drastically reduced my pain in one visit, but also opened my eyes to the body's ability to heal itself. It was suddenly clear to me that I had to be part of this healing modality that honored and facilitated the body's innate ability to heal, adapt and thrive. And so my rather rocky journey to becoming a chiropractor began, involving quite a few transitions of location, family structure and lifestyle. Thankfully, with the support of my 2 daughters, family, and friends, I am blessed to have the chance at a second career and to be serving humanity through the healing arts.
I practice a combination of very gentle, low-force techniques, as well as more traditional styles of chiropractic. I adjust the spine as well as extremities (elbows, hands, knees, feet). I am endlessly fascinated with the body's wisdom and the mind-body-spirit connection and I'd love to participate in your healing journey.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my teenage daughters, traveling, reading, learning, exploring nature and spirituality.
